A FINE FRENCH HAND COLORED LITHOGRAPH FAN
MOTHER OF PEARL OVERLAY ON GUARDS
CIRCA 1840-1850
Here is a VERY NICE French
hand colored Lithograph fan with pierced bone sticks. The guards are
bone with an overlay of pierced Mother of Pearl and inlaid with steel
picque. Each guard has an old repair as shown in the pictures. The
double paper leaf is a nicely colored lithograph of an 18th C. outdoor
party. The reverse is a scene of a 18th C small picnic. The colors on
both sides are lively and vivid. There are some minor tears in the
leaf but this fan shows really well. It is circa 1840 and I believe
French in origin. A very fine example of the craftsmanship typical of
the hand colored lithographs over this period. TB
