M994M1837 ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BABY CHILDS CHRISTENING DRESS. 1837 ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BABY CHILD'S CHRISTENING DRESS. This is a 1837 Antique Victorian Baby Child's Christening Dress Gown . It does have some wear and some stains. It was hand sewn. It come from a well known Family. This is my oldest christening dress. Look at the picture of the breast. The dress has typical empire cut. It comes With two bonnets one for girl and one for boy. They are not so old as the christning gown. The dress came with two notices that read: No 1 Christening robe made by Sarah Jane Nash in New Orleans in 1837 for the first child of NH and Sara Jane Nash. This robe was worn for the christening of J. H. Nash and each of the children followings. Also (??? Can not read the letter) Nash son of JH Nash. Sewing Machin had notcome into use at that time. Notise the needle work. More I cant read. Nr 2 Christening robe made by hand in 1837. Sewing machine had not come into use note the fine needle work handmade lace.
