Description
Beautiful antique Georgian dainty fan, which has been wonderfully produced from carved bone (cattle - Bovine species) with green silk leaf. The
fan would date top the early part of the 19th century, circa 1810, when
the fashion was for smaller fans to go with the simple high wasted
gowns. The fan has a brass pin and bone rivet and has no loop as these did not appear until the middle of the 19th century.
SIZE
The fan measures a dainty 30.5cm (12") across when opened to it's fullest, and is 16cm (6½") high.
CONDITION
The
fan is in a very good condition for considerable age, with no loss or
damage to the bone. There is a small brown stain to the right hand
side, plus araes of faint brown spotting. There are also several broken
sections to the wood sticks to the back, with sections missing. Please refer to the above photographs for details of condition. TB
