| Antique 1850s Mahogany Vanity/Travel Case with Brass Trim. Presented for your consideration is this antique travel kit featuring a SIX piece vanity set in a beautiful mahogany case estimated to be 1850-60s. The case is in very sturdy condition with both exterior and interior made of mahogany. The case is trimmed in brass around the outside edges. Below the brass handle appears to be the inscriptions "A.A. K. Thune"--difficult to decipher. The mirror inside the upper lid is original and is free of cracks, chips and breaks, but is easing out of the trim on the bottom right hand corner. Near the bottom (outside) of the case are some areas where mahogany has been chipped off on sides and front of piece. "Brahams Patent" is displayed on the brass area inside where the case latches. Additional space for storage is utilized by lifting up the top right hand shelf which measures 8.5"W x 8"T. The center of the shelf is padded in a purple velour fabric (this also lifts and exposes two small storage areas). This is a beautiful example of an antique travel case. The case has one key available. The vanity set is composed of six different glass pieces with silver tops; both of the rectangular pieces have an engraved floral design. The vanity pieces (all silver topped) measure (six pieces total): 1. Smaller Rectangular Engraved Piece: 3 1/2" long x 2 1/4" wide x 1 1/2" tall 2. Longest Rectangular Engraved Piece: 7" long x 1 10/16" wide x 1 1/2" tall. 3. Tallest Round Piece: 3 1/2" tall by 2" diameter 4. TWO Smaller Round Pieces: 1 6/16" tall x 1 1/2" diameter 5. Square Piece: 3 1/2" tall x 2" wide x 2" deep The case measures 12" wide x 8 3/4" deep x 5 1/2" high. Nice example of workmanship. Some scratches and wear to the mahogany finish. - In very good condition. A complementary addition to my vintage vanity collection.
