xxM416M Grand magasin Du Louvre Dress.
Dress in two pieces, skirt and top. It is richly decorated with sequins and beadwork. It is presumed to be from the mid-1890s. Size is that time 48, which corresponds to 42 today. Grands Magasin du Louvre, initially Les Galeries du Louvre, a department store in paris, France, was founded in 1855, three years after its competitor, Le Bon Marche. Under new management as the Societe du Louvre, it closed definitively in 1974. At present, the building houses the Louvre des Antiquaires, a conglomeration of antique shops, as well as offices. Les Grands du Løuvre had inspired Emilie Zola in his novel Au Bonheur des Dames (1883).
